Accursed Objects in my home!
Organizing At A Time Such As This!
As we have begun to enjoy the beautiful season of Fall, there is something dark lurking around the corner! In Hebrew, the year 2023 is the year of the Door. What doors are we opening and closing? The people and things we let into the doors of our hearts and homes are detrimental to our spiritual walk. It affects us and our family internally as well as externally. We want what Isaiah prophesized:
Isaiah 32:18 “My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.”
If you find your home is in a state of chaos, it may be a reflection of what is going on inside your heart and mind. However, there are also extenuating circumstances that can have an effect on our lives as well. Space that is occupied, dirty, and out of order can be an overwhelming situation for any person. It can lead to confusion, lack of productivity, and unnecessary stress. My husband realized that every time he entered the garage!
My husband always felt an uneasiness, uncomfortable, cold feeling every time he entered the garage, and couldn’t put a finger on it. He would quickly get in and out, toss things in there, and shut the door. But, one day, to my amazement, I walked out and found the garage completely emptied out on our front lawn! What was even better was, that I saw PILES: a pile for garbage, a pile to donate, and a pile to keep! The organizer in me was leaping with joy. He had finally made a decision- he was going to face this uncomfortable feeling.
He was going to go in there and empty the garage out, clean it, and put it in order!
Unbeknownst to him, there were objects and figurines left in the back of the garage, from the previous owner, that were of witchcraft nature. That creeped my husband out! Immediately, he threw these things out and decided he was going to claim this space back. He decided to use the powerful tool of- prayer! He prayed over the space, inviting God to reside and bless the space! No longer would these things dishonor our God, wig my husband out, and take control of the garage!
As soon as this was done, he felt an overwhelming relief and peace about it!
In Matthew 12:43-45 it reads:
43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean, and put in order.45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.
It is not enough to empty the space out, clean it, and put it in order. We must replace it with something Godly. Invite the Holy Spirit to reside there with you. To maintain that peace, examine your space occasionally and make sure nothing was brought in through the doors, of both your heart and home, that dishonors God. If it was, destroy it. And cleanse that space with God once more.
We also need to cleanse the areas of our hearts and lives that may not be so visible. We know our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the powers of a dark world. Our battle is unseen. One of the devil’s tactics is to clutter our lives and our minds so that we cannot see or hear God.
